Ludwig's family



In general, Ludwig didn't have a very lucky family:
His young bride Archduchess Mathilde
died accidentally; she was bored while watching a parade and tried to smoke a secret cigarette, her clothes caught fire and she burnt to death.
Albert I and Leopoldo III were murdered, Mary Borgoña died in a fall, and the rest either drowned, burnt or murdered.

Biography


Luis Savador was a traveller, sailor, scientist, artist, open-minded thinker and mentor, visionary, pacifist, traditionalist, conservationist, writer and lover. He was also known as Ludwig Salvator of Austria and was born the 4th August 1847 in Florence. He was the fourth son (second youngest) of Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany and princess Mary Antonietta of Borbó-Dues Sicilies. His titols were Archduke of Austria, Prince of Bohemia, Hungary and Toscana. He would spend his time studying foreign languages, drawing, Geography and sciences. These were his hobbies.

Throghout his life he had an illness called elephantasis that made it difficult to get up without help and move about.
But that didn't disable him from doing what he liked. He was an educated, handsome person who learnt fourteen different languages including greek and latin.
He dedicated most of his life to travelling and he found the balearic islands very interesting. He travelled to the Mediterranian for sientific studies. He first travelled to Majorca in 1867.
The wild beauty of the main island andthe kindness of its inhabitants impressed him so much that three years later he chose this island as his home.
On October 12th, 1915 Ludwig Salvator died in Brandeis.His body lies in the crypt of the Capuchin church in Vienna.
